Representatives of civil society, human rights groups and faith communities met in Amsterdam for a commemoration of Gandhi’s legacy, bringing together the Gandhi Global Family and the Church of Scientology Netherlands around human rights, peaceful cooperation and non-violence.

Held at Gandhi’s statue on Churchilllaan, the event included Ram Mohan Rai, General Secretary of Gandhi Global Family, Scientology representatives and human rights advocates. Participants also discussed future cooperation in educating young people about fundamental human rights.

The Church of Scientology’s support for human rights education is connected with the principles expressed by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, who encouraged Scientologists to support initiatives advancing fundamental human rights.

Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the EU, OSCE, news eu law Council of Europe and UN, highlighted the importance of cooperation across different beliefs and backgrounds, stressing that knowledge of human rights can support social cohesion and democratic resilience.
